About Us

The Who

Robyn and I enjoying some ice cream in Strawberry Point, Iowa. Home of the worlds largest strawberry

Welcome! I am Emily Keen (Em for short!); and the cute, furry one next to me is my adventurous Pitbull, Robyn. Her and I are free spirited, fly where the wind takes us, kind of gals. We are dreamers and doers. We are risk takers, and the ‘fly by the edge of our seat’, kind.

Just three years ago, I rescued Robyn. I have to tell you, she saved me. I was going through the most trying time in my life, at the time. She was the turning point in my life; we became an audacious family of two. I started chasing my daydreams, and she’s been right there along side me ever since. So, here we are!

The What

I am a Spontaneous Travel & Lifestyle Blogger, and Robyn is my trusty sidekick.

My biggest daydream is to quit my job as an Office Manager, pack a bag, and travel the entire world. Going anywhere and everywhere, all with little to no plans, just a direction in mind.

For now, until I am able to escape my 9 to 5, I am going to be traveling as much as possible. Mostly day trips in and around St. Louis, Missouri and weekend trips throughout the mid west.

I am not always able to take Robyn, but she goes anytime it’s possible, and when it’s not, shes running around with her four “Grand-paws“. And yes, I just made that up, but you know what I mean, right?!

The Why

For as long as I can remember I am happiest when I am exploring somewhere new. I think that is and always will be my serenity. The best way to cheer me up, or calm me down is to take a drive to somewhere new, even for no reason at all. I think I need that in my life, for my anxiety, for my anger, for my soul.

“To move, to breathe, to fly, to float, to roam the roads of lands remote, to travel is to live.”

-Hans Christian Andersen

I’ve got to tell you, I’ve struggled tremendously with “what I want to be when I grow up”. I was not meant to sit in an office for the rest of my life. I just don’t thrive that way, I need to be out there, seeing the world. Spread my wings, and just fly.

That is when I realized I have been doing it all along. I travel for fun and for peace, why not make that into a lifestyle!?

The How

By January, 2020 I plan to leave my home and start my life of adventuring full time. This 2019 year is about research & growth so that 2020 can be about discovery and adventures.

In Pit Stop Adventures you will read a lot about my goals, my dreams, my plans and my preparations for next year, as well as my mid west adventures. Slowly but surely, I will get there.

In the meantime, I travel when I can, and focus on writing for you all the rest of the time.

I always said I travel to find my purpose. However, along my journeys I have realized that I don’t actually travel to find my purpose, I travel because it is my purpose.

Thank you for taking the time to get to know me and learn a little about my daydreams! I hope it inspires you to set a goal, work everyday to achieve that goal, and just do it.
